A variety of Jewish groups are offering educational and recreational online resources. Below is a sampling of those. The Reporter will publish additional listings as they become available. 

The Center for Jewish History will hold the virtual lecture “Family History Today: Novel NYC Records” on Tuesday, June 20, at 7 pm. Alec Ferretti, professional genealogist at the Wells Fargo Family and Business History Center, will provide an overview of some New York City historical records, including licensing records, voter registrations and education records. The Jewish Theological Seminary will hold two virtual “Between the Lines” book talks: “The Confidante” with author Christopher C. Gorham about his biography of Anna Marie Rosenberg, a Hungarian Jewish immigrant on Tuesday, June 13, from 1-2 pm (available here); and “Where I Am” a novel by Dana Shem-Ur on Tuesday, June 20, from 1-2 pm (available here).

Uri L’Tzedek, Orthodox Social Justice, will hold the virtual program “Exploring The Diaspora Jewish community of Latin America with Dr. Analucia Lopezrevoredo” on Wednesday, June 14, at noon. She will discuss the adaption, customs and lives of diaspora Jews from across Latin America. For more information or the register, click here.

Hadassah Magazine will hold “One Book, One Hadassah: ‘Kantika;” on Thursday, June 15, at 7 pm. The event is free and open to all. Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Lisa Hostein will interview award-winning author Elizabeth Graver about her new novel “Kantika,” a multigenerational saga about a Sephardi Jewish family. The event will also feature a performance by feminist Ladino rock artist Sarah Aroeste. For more information or to register, click here.

Maven will hold the virtual program “Jewish Languages Today: Endangered, Surviving, and Thriving” on Thursday, June 29, from 3-4 pm. The cost to attend is $21. Jewish Women’s Archives will hold a three-part virtual history course”Beyond the Gender Binary” on Thursdays, June 8-22, at 8 pm. Each week will have a different lecturer. “In the course, JWA asks: How was the prevailing gender binary constructed? How does it change our understanding of history to bring a Jewish, queer, and trans lens to historical sources? And how can archives expand the current conversation about gender and Judaism?” For more information or to register, click here.

Jewish Book Week, London’s international literary festival, announced its new video library with nearly 1,000 hours of searchable content from its festivals, available to watch for free. For more information or to access the videos, click here. 

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research will present a book talk on the newly published translation of Franz Kafka’s handwritten diaries, titled “Franz Kafka: The Diaries” on Tuesday, June 6, at 10 pm. Qesher will hold several virtual events in June and July: “The Jews of Ukraine: A Virtual Tour of Kiev and Odesa” on Sunday, June 11, at 3 pm; “The Jews of London: One Thousand Years of History” on Sunday, June 18, at 3 pm; “A Tale of Three Kingdoms: The Jews of Andalusia, Morocco and Gibraltar” on Sunday, June 25, at 3 pm; “The Jews of Panama: A Prosperous Community Between Two Oceans” on Thursday, June 29, at 3 pm; “The Jews of the Great Silk Road: Yesterday and today” on Thursday, July 6, at 3 pm; “Recalling Jewish Calcutta” on Sunday, July 9, at noon; and “The Jews of Galicia (Western Ukraine): A Virtual Tour of Lviv and Brody” on Sunday, July 16, at 3 pm. The Museum at Eldridge Street will hold the virtual class “Who is a Jew? A Historical Overview” on Tuesdays, June 6-27 and July 11-25, at 11 am. Classes can be purchased individually, or as a 7-class bundle. Tickets are $11 per class. It will be taught by Dr. Regina Stein, the scholar-in-residence at the museum.
