What is The Reporter?

The Reporter is a bi- weekly newspaper published by the Jewish Federation of Greater Binghamton and reflects the voice of an inclusive Jewish community. Through local coverage, the paper prints the concerns, challenges and aspirations of the close community; members of the community are encouraged to use The Reporter as a vehicle to share their simchas, as well as their losses.

The paper also includes in-depth coverage of national and international issues of Jewish interest, features and opinion pieces. It is an essential source of information and communication, and has received recognition and professional awards for distinguished journalism.

How Do I Learn about Special Advertising Issues?

How Do I submit material to The Reporter?

All material should be sent to TReporter@aol.com. The subject line should read "Reporter article."

Articles: Articles should be included in the body of an e-mail or sent as an attachment.

Photos: Photos should be sent as a JPEP or TIFF format as an attachment. Hard copy photos may be dropped off or mailed to The Reporter office, which is located off the lobby of the Jewish Community Center, 500 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, NY 13850.

How Do I Write A Letter to the Editor?

All letters to the editor must be sent to TReporter@aol.com in the body of an e-mail or as an attachment. The subject line should read "Reporter letter to the editor." Letters must include the writer’s name, address and phone number. Names may be held upon request. All writers will be contacted to make certain they want their letter to appear. The Reporter reserves the right to refuse to publish a letter or make changes due to length and other considerations.

How Do I Advertise in The Reporter?

To advertise in the paper, or to get ad sizes and rates information, email advertising[at]thereportergroup.org or call 607-724-2360, ext. 244, or 800-779-7896, ext. 244.

How Can I Get a Subscription or Make a Donation?

The Reporter is provided free to members of the Jewish Federation of Greater Binghamton. The cost of a subscription for non-Federation members is $40 for one year and $68 for a 2-year subscription. Voluntary subscriptions are also welcome. A check should be made out to The Reporter and mailed to The Reporter, 500 Clubhouse Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.

What type of material does the paper publish?

The Reporter publishes material of interest to the Jewish communities of Broome, Tioga, Chenango and Tompkins County, NY, and Bradford County, PA. No fiction or poetry is accepted.

What Are the Deadlines for the Paper?

Editorial deadlines: Articles and photos are due at the end of the business day eight days before the Friday date of the paper (usually the Wednesday of the week before).
