Piaker Memorial Lecture to be held on Sept. 23

Last minute reservations are still being accepted for the annual Piaker Memorial Lecture tendered by Chabad to be held on Monday, September 23, at 7:15 pm, at the Jewish Community Center in Vestal. The evening, titled “One People, One Heart,” will feature guest speaker Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, who will address “five lessons from the Rebbe that can change your life today.” The evening is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Binghamton and the Jewish Community Center. The event is open to the community free of charge, but reservations are necessary and can be made at www.jewishbu.com/piaker or by calling Chabad at 797-0015. A dessert reception and book signing will follow the lecture.
Telushkin is the author of 16 books on Judaism. In 2014, Telushkin released “Rebbe: The Life and Teachings of Menachem M. Schneerson, the Most Influential Rabbi in Modern History,” which appeared on all the major bestseller lists, including The New York Times Best Seller list, The Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly.
Telushkin tours the United States as a lecturer on Jewish topics, and he has been named by Talk Magazine as one of the 50 best speakers in the United States. He has been on the Newsweek list of the 50 most influential rabbis in America since 1997. He wrote the episode “Bar Mitzvah” on the television show  “Touched by an Angel,” guest-starring Kirk Douglas.Telushkin was ordained at Yeshiva University in New York, and pursued graduate studies in history at Columbia University. He resides in New York City with his wife, Dvorah Menashe Telushkin. They are the parents of four children.
